Thank you, Manuel. Yes, there is a great gap between the rich and poor here. While the economy is healthy, not all sectors benefit from it.

Artist's Description

This Unaltered photograph was taken in downtown Jerusalem, Feb. 2015. When compared to other OECD countries, Israel still has the highest poverty rates of all developed countries.
There are more than 1.7 million poor Israelis, some 21.7% of the population, according to the annual poverty report the National Insurance Institute,

A total of 1,712,900 people, including 460,800 families and 764,200 children, live below the poverty line, according to the report, which is based on data gathered by the Central Bureau of Statistics for 2015, the most recent year for which comprehensive information is available.

Esther Newman-Cohen

Dr. Esther Newman-Cohen is a highly creative Israeli-based artist. She engages in a wide range of artistic activity, including drawing, painting and woodcarving. Her subjects range from abstracts to realistic portraits and landscapes, done in a variety of media - pencil, ink, aquarelle, pastel, acrylic and oil. She also designs ketubot, Jewish marriage contracts, many of which are also posted on Fine Art America. Over the past five years she has added wood sculptures to her repertoire. Her first solo exhibits took place in Jerusalem, at the Alliance Francaise in 1989: "The Women of Jerusalem," in 1992 at the Gerard Behar Theater: "Flowers and Landscapes of Jerusalem," and in 2008 at the Jerusalem Botanical Garden: "Flowers: A Love Story."...
