Description
Abortion remains one of the most controversial subjects, but single parenthood is not seen today as shameful and is now accepted by feminists. Abortion is deeply troubling because it touches on three central issues of a woman's self-concept: her sexuality, her morality, and her maternal identity. She also has to deal with the loss of a child. This loss must be confronted, processed, and grieved in order for a woman to resolve her experience. Burke and Reardon, Forbidden Grief, 33. Pro-life feminist Beatrice Fedor wrote: "Once a child is conceived unexpectedly, the feminist response should be to empower women with choices they can live with; choices that don't put them in a situation of coercion in the hands of controlling sex partners and gruesome procedures with heavy psychological implications; choices that don't involve a direct attack on the weak and small." http://400wordsforwomen.com/2015/09/17/why-is-it-shocking-to-be-a-pro-life-feminist/
"If, as a society, we make pregnant women feel inadequate and unwanted; it's our attitude that we need to abort; not their children." http://400wordsforwomen.com/2015/11/23/its-our-attitude-we-need-to-abort-not-their-children/
