The painting "Mount Sinai" is part of a series of pastels featuring the mountains and hills of Israel. The sandy, dusty mountains are hit by the bright sun and reflect back in dramatic ways. Where most people might see ochre boredom, I see excitement and movement as exemplified in a wide variety of colors. The chalk-like textures of soft pastels seem to be the most natural method of portraying these desert hills and mountains. Often the shapes I see naturally resemble abstract paintings.
