Title
A Bumbry Bush
Artist
Esther Newman-Cohen
Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Paper
Description
Oscar Wilde used the word "Bunbury" in his play "The Importance of Being Ernest." In the play Algernon pretends to have an invalid friend named Bunbury in the country, whom he can "visit" whenever he wishes to avoid an unwelcome social obligation. The word has become part of the English language: To bunbury or to go bunburying is to have a made up excuse to get out of doing something boring. My version is "bumbry" and this "bumbry bush" probably still grows in Bunbury.
